Lebih daripada 100 Orang Asli dari Kampung Ganoh, Rompin, Pahang berhimpun secara aman untuk menuntut syarikat lombong besi supaya membayar pampasan kepada mereka. Tanah adat dan wilayah Orang Asli di kampung tersebut telah dikorek dan dihancur oleh syarikat lombong tanpa bantahan dan pendapat mereka diambilkira oleh pihak berkuasa.

Orang kampung telah membuat bantahan kepada wakil rakyat dari UMNO, BN tetapi setakat ini bantahan mereka masih tidak dihiraukan. Punca berita tertentu berkata lesen lombong bijih besi tersebut dimiliki oleh kerabat sultan Pahang.

Peoples Documentary is in the process of finalizing a documentary series on issues faced by the Seletar Orang Asli of Johore Straits. We welcome any organization or individual who are interested to organize a screening and talks on this documentary called: The Sea Gypsies who are losing their sea.

Students, undergraduates, youth organization, teachers or any member of the public are welcomed to co-organize such event so understand the communities and issues they are facing.

硕果仅存的Seletar原住民集中居住在柔佛海峡一带，他们落户的年代更早于柔佛州苏丹皇朝；是西马原住民中少数靠海为生的族群，他们的足迹甚至遍布新加坡。

1970年代，这一批常年在海上漂流的原住民开始被政府鼓励定居。虽然如此，绝大部分族人依然完全依靠大海为生。直到90年代末，当金海湾一带的填海工程开始摧毁他们的红树林和海床，导致许多渔民被逼放弃生计。

如今，如火如荼的填海工程和相关的依斯干达发展计划更是对他们长久定居的土地虎视眈眈。这批海上吉普赛面临另一次的逼迁行动，并且很可能将丧失他们赖以为生的大海，从此颠沛流离，甚至面临文化传承无以为继的境地。

Very often, we fail to understand Orang Asal @ indigenous peoples of Malaysia not because we are more educated nor more aware, but only they are less priviledge and less brainwashed by ideology of the mainstream society.

一般上，我们不理解马来西亚原住民的情况并非因为我们受教育程度比较高或比较醒觉；而是因为他们比较不具备特权和少受主流社会的价值观和意识形态洗脑。

Aluminium Smelting plant and cancer patient

An aluminium smelting plant which has been operating for more than 6 years at Balingian, Mukah, Sarawak believed to have caused various health hazards such as acute respiratory problems, coughing, headaches and asthma. Longhouse peoples living adjacent to the plant even claimed that the pollutants from the plant had caused them cancers and other chronic diseases.

A "People First" hydroelectric project by TNB

Tenaga Nasional Bhd(TNB) is carrying out a hyroelectric project and start to resettle Orang Asli from 3 villages. They claimed before the press that this is going to be a "People First" project as Orang Asli to be affected will be very well taken care of.

KOMPENI DAPATKAN SURAT PERINTAH MAHKAMAH BAGI UKUR KAWASAN ORANG ASLI GEBOK

11 September 2014 ,Mantin ,Negeri  Sembilan– Penduduk  Asli  Kampung  Gebok telah  melakukan  perjumpaan  bersama  pegawai  JAKOA Daerah Negeri Sembilan,En.Yaccob  yang  datang  ingin memperbetulkan salah faham  penduduk Asli  Gebok  tentang  menyatakan  mereka  membawa juruukur ke dalam kampung Gebok pada hari semalam. Pihak JAKOA memaklumkan bahawa mereka tidak tahu  mengenai Syarikat Cekal Sempurna yang  mengeluarkan surat perintah mahkamah untuk mengukur kawasan kampung  Orang Asli Gebok.Menurut nasihat Bah Tony (Peguam Orang Asli), 

Syarikat berkenaan hanya memiliki lot pemilikan sementara sahaja, oleh itu, kompeni berkenaan ingin membuat  pengukuran semula kerana mahu mendapatkan pemilikan tetap kawasan tersebut. Salah satu usaha mereka  adalah pihak Syarikat telah menghantar surat  perintah mahkamah  kepada pihak  Pejabat Tanah dan Daerah untuk  melantik juruukur  bagi mengukur kawasan kompeni ini.Beberapa tempoh cubaan pihak ini telah lakukan sebelum ini namun penduduk  

Asli di situ masih  tidak membenarkan mereka mengukur kerana  perlakuan itu  adalah tidak menghormati dan mengikuti  prinsip yang termaktub dalam Undang-undang Antarabangsa  yang mengkitiraf HAK Orang Asal Sejagat di mana pihak luar  berhak mematuhi Izin,Makluman,Bebas dan Telus (I.M.A.B.T)  sekiranya mereka memasuki  ke kawasan yang dipercayai Tanah dan Wilayah Adat Orang Asli. Penduduk Asli Gebok dengan  tangkas membuat laporan polis atas faktor sikap pihak Syarikat ini yang sambil lewa tidak menghormati  Hak Orang Asli Gebok mendapatkan maklumat dengan lebih telus.Mereka  mendengar sendiri hari ini janji En.Yaccob untuk menyelidiki  isu Syarikat Cekal Sempurna ini yang  tidak memaklumkan langsung  apakah tujuan sebenar mereka  mengukur kawasan  kampung Gebok.

Anti Dams Protest at KLCC

 

More than a hundred of Orang Asal( indigenous peoples) affected by various mega dam projects from Sarawak, Sabah and Pahang, and supporters from various states including Kelantan, Perak, Melaka and Johor, today stormed KLCC to protest against mega dam projects in Malaysia. This event was held as response to the international conference on hydropower called ASEAN POWER WEEK which is being conducted in KLCC for 3 days.

Telom Dam, and Temengor dam were giving
speech to the public at the entrance of convention hall. Chairman of SAVE Rivers, Peter Kallang managed to handover a memorandum against the proposed Baram Dam to a representative of Sarawak Energy Berhad(SEB).

Thomas Jalong, president of JOAS urged the participants of the conference not to support and involve in this kind of mega dam projects which would not only destroying the ecosystem but jeopardizing the natives who depend upon the land and rivers for their livelihood as well.

The peacefull assembly lasted for about an hour. Also present to show solidarity were Aru and Suresh of PSM, YB Lee Chean Chung of PKR, Dr.Kua Kia Soong of SUARAM and several others.

We Don't Want to be a DAM and DAMN nation

Orang Asal communities affected by existing and proposed mega dams in Sabah, Sarawak and Semenanjung Malaysia especially Pahang state will gather in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow(10/9/2014) to voice their concern, discontent and anger against various mega dam projects which jeopardizing their land and livelihood.

Protest to Stop Mega Dams(抗议巨型水坝集会）

Orang Asal communities affected by various mega dam projects in Sarawak, Sabah and Pahang and members of the civil society will protest on 10th Sept, at KLCC. Similar demonstration was carried out on 26th Sept 2013 to protest against the Murum Dam and Proposed Baram Dam infront of the Parliament.

受巨型水坝计划影响的沙巴，砂拉越和彭亨州原住民社群以及公民社会成员将于本月10日假吉隆坡双子塔进行集会抗议。去年9月26日，类似抗议也在国会大厦前进行，此为纪录片。

Kesan Perpindahan Secara Paksa oleh Projek hidroeletrik Ulu Jelai

124 hektar tanah adat dan wilayah  daripada 14 buah kampung Orang Asli di Cameron Highland, Pahang akan ditenggelamkan oleh projek hidroelektrik Ulu Jelai atau Empangan Susu. Di mana 3 buah kampung akan dipindahkan. Dokumentari ini mendedahkan kesan penempatan semula ke atas Orang Asli Kampung Susu oleh pemaju projek iaitu TNB. Susu Dam or Ulu Jelai hydroelectric project at Cameron Highland would flood 124 hectares of customary land and territory belongs to 14 Orang Asli villages and force relocate 3 villages. This documentary exposed the negative social implications of forced resettlement by TNB on the villagers of kampung Susu.

Penghulu Paul who support Baram Dam can not represent the Baram people

Anthony Lawai Karing from Long San said, the Penghulu Paul of Baram who claimed himself to speak for the people of Baram and supporting the construction of the proposed Baram Dam are not qualified to do so.

Anthony Lawai said Penghulu Paul never called them for discussion and meeting to ask their opinion on the proposed Baram Dam project. Futher more, he is not living in Baram and would not suffer from consequences of the project.

巴南区原住民兼前公务人员Anthony Lawai Karing声称，该区村长（penghulu Paul)没有资格宣传自己代表所有巴南居民支持拟建巴南水坝计划。

他说：“村长从来不曾和居民会面或讨论，以询问我们对巴南水坝计划的意见。而且他也不住在巴南，将来不会受到水坝计划的负面影响。”

Tanah Orang Asli Temerloh diceroboh FELDA(淡马鲁原住民土地遭入侵）

Tanah Adat seluas 350 ekar termasuk kawasan kubur diceroboh oleh FELDA. Tanah Adat dan Wilayah tersebut dimiliki Orang Asli dari kampung Paya Pelong dan Kampung Paya Rekoh, Temerloh, Pahang. Cost of resettlement of Ulu Jelai Hydroelectric Project

The Ulu Jelai HEP project is in Cameron Highland. Major component is building the Susu Dam on Bertam River, 80 metre high with 372 MW capacity. The dam will flood an area of 124 hectares, basically all are customary land and traditional territory of Orang Asli from 14 villages. 3 villages will be flooded and resettled, which are Kg Susu, Kg Tiat and Kg Pinang.

Chairman f TNB Leo Moggie claimed Orang Asli from this 3 villages will enjoy full facilities but villagers of Kg Susu who had been resettled told us that the PPRT houses were poorly built and water supply are not enough.

CEO of TNB Che Khalid Mohd Noh said TNB will compensate Orang Asli on crops and property losses in the project. What he failed to tell them is, they are not going to get any compensation nor substitution for their customary land which is 124 hectares which they are going to loose once the dam start its impoundment.

In every single statement TNB made to the media, they only mentioned that: " 14 Orang Asli will be involved", but fail to recognize that the land to be submerged is customary land which belongs to Orang Asli.

However, to comfort the Orang Asli of Kampung Susu who had been forced to move, TNB promised
verbally that each family will be given 6 acres of farm land in Raub to earn a living. Similar case had happened to the Penans and Kenyah of Murum who were resettled last year to Metalun and Tegulang, no sign of compensation or replacement of the land they lost was noticed. They same tragedy most probably would befall Orang Asli in Pos Lanai(  a few thousand of them) if they accept the proposed Telom Dam.

后殖民时代的原住民遭遇（Nasib Orang Asli Segamat selepas Merdeka)

柔佛昔加末的双轨火车道发展计划涉及Kampung Lenek原住民村所拥有的部分祖传习俗领地，可是原住民完全被蒙在鼓里。牵涉的单位，包括马来亚火车公司，昔加末土地局和原住民发展局已经在讨论征地的阶段，却没有咨询和通知涉及的原住民。

原住民发展局更是在完全没有咨询原住民同意与否的情况下，训令涉及的原住民开始计算各自的橡胶树数量，以便赔偿之用。换言之，所牵涉的土地将不获得赔偿，也没有经过地主的同意就征用。这就是马来亚独立57年后的“后殖民”时期，原住民普遍遭遇的命运。（资料来源：Abdullah Lada Merah昔加末原住民）

Rezab kg org asli Lenek, Bekok Segamat Johor telah terlibat dgn projek landasan kereta api berkembar.. Maka sbahagian drpd tanah org asli telah termasuk ke dlm projek ini.. Apa yg merisaukan penduduk adalah tindakan pihak KTMB dan Pejabat Tanah Daerah Segamat serta Jakoa yg membelakangkan org asli sbgi pemunya tanah tersebut. Segala perundingan dan perbincangan langsung tidak melibatkan org asli. Pada 20hbOgos, TNB telah menghantar sebuah mesin driller ke Pos Lenjang untuk mengkaji tanah di situ, membuktikan bahawa kebimbangan penduduk Orang Asli tentang kemungkinan TNB akan membina sebuah empangan di situ memang berasas, menurut Jeffrey Hassan, penduduk Pos Lanai.

Penduduk Pos Lenjang yang terkejut dan marah kerana tanah adat diceroboh telah bertindak pantas. Mereka berkumpul beramai-ramai di tempak pekerja TNB membawa mesin mereka dan mengarahkan pekerja tersebut beralih segera dari situ. Pekerja takut sehingga mengigil dan telah lari lintang pukang.

Malangnya, 2 hari kemudian, mesin tersebut telah sampai di tapak empangan Telom di Pos Lanai tanpa pengetahuan penduduk Orang Asli di situ.Jeffey amat kesal dengan perbuatan TNB yang tidak menghormat adat dan hak Orang Asli Pos Lanai. Sedangkan projek empangan Telom masih belum membentangkan EIA, dan kajian SEIA masih dijalankan, mengapa TNB boleh menghantar mesin berat ke tapak cadangan empangan tanpa pertujuan tuan-tuan punya tanah yang terlibat? Berikut merupakan memorandum penduduk Pos Lenjang yang membantah projek empangan di tempat mereka.

TNB appointed SEIA consultant intimidate natives of Pahang

A SEIA consultant with PhD title was intimidating a group of indigenous peoples of Pos Lanai, Lipis, in the state of Pahang, that they are going to loose their rights over their customary land and traditional territory and can not claim compensation on it if they refuse to cooperate with the SEIA survey. Jeffrey Hassan, chairperson of Action Committee f Pos Lanai residents who are against the proposed Telom Dam said so when interviewed by Peoples Documentary on 31Aug2014.

A meeting was held on 28 Aug by Tenaga Nasional Bhd(TNB), JAKOA( Department of Orang Asli Development) and natives of Pos Lanai who would be affected by the proposed Telom HEP. This was the 3rd meeting of similar kind, where the project proponent i.e TNB and its appointed SEIA consultant has been trying very hard to persuade the villagers to accept the SEIA survey which will be conducted by UiTM, a local University.

Jeffrey said some residents who are against the proposed Telom Dam had once against saying that they refuse to accept the SEIA survey since they reject the dam. After the meeting, the lecturer of UiTM who incharge of the SEIA survey approached jeffrey and told him: " If you are so stuborn( to not cooperate with the SEIA survey), you would lose your rights on your tanah adat( customary land and traditional territory) and most probably can not claim compensation over it when the dam starts its impoundment."

Due to this intimidation, some of the villagers had accepted the SEIA surveys. They were asked to provide their personal particulars such as ID number and full name but were not provided a copy of the survey form. Jeffrey managed to ask for photocopies of the forms, and one of them is as below:

Jeffrey felt annoyed with the attitude shown by the SEIA consultant who should have been more objective and professional in carrying out his job. He hope human rights lawyers or NGOs can help his villagers from being cheated and manipulated by irresponsible stakeholders.

The proposed Telom Dam is 195 metres in height, with 132 MW capacity. It would flood 7200 hectares of land with most of it are customary land and traditional territory belongs to the Orang Asli( indigenous peoples) of several villages in Pos Lanai. The affected villagers had questioned the justification of the dam several times in their memorandum handed over to project proponent, i.e TNB, but the later had failed to answer, they fail to publish any EIA as well, which is mandatory according to Malaysia law. Instead they persuade villagers to accept SEIA survey, which is not a compulsory measure according to laws of the country.

Pakar SEIA ugut Orang Asli Pos Lanai

Seorang pakar dalam kajian SEIA yang mempunyai pangkat doktor dari UiTM mengugut Orang Asli Pos Lanai, Lipis, Pahang pada 28 Ogos, bahawa mereka akan kehilangan hak untuk menuntut pampasan atas tanah adat yang bakal ditenggelami oleh Empangan Telom yang dicadang bina oleh TNB.

En.Jeffrey Hasan selaku pengerusi jawatankuasa bertindak pembangunan tanah dan wilayah adat Kg Orang Asli Pos Lanai berkata demikian semasa ditemuduga oleh Peoples Documentary pada 31 Ogos di Pos Betau. Menurut beliau TNB dan JAKOA mengadakan perjumpaan dengan penduduk Pos Lanai di SK POs Lanai di Pos Pantos pada 28 Ogos untuk sekali lagi memujuk penduduk supaya menerima kajian soal selidik SEIA yang dijalankan oleh pelajar2 UiTM, sebagai badan yang bertugas untuk TNB untuk menyediakan laporan SEIA projek empangan Telom.

 Semasa mesyuarat diadakan antara penduduk dengan pihak TNB, JAKOA dan turut dihadiri wakil rakyat BN, ada sebahagian penduduk yang menolak kajian SEIA atas sebab mereka tidak menerima projek empangan. Setelah mesyuarat tamat, seorang pensyarah UiTM yang bertanggungjawab dalam kajian SEIA tersebut memberitahu Jeffrey bahawa sekiranya mereka terus DEGIL dan tidak menerima kajian SEIA, besar kemungkinan mereka akan hilang hak untuk menuntut pampasan atas tanah adat yang akan ditenggelami apabila empangan mula bertakung.

Jeffrey kata, berpuluh2 isirumah telah menerima kajian soal selidik yang dijalankan oleh pihak UiTM kerana mereka takut akan tidak mendapat apa2 pampasan atau subsidi. Mereka diminta mengisi semua maklumat penting seperti no IC dll tetapi tidak diberi salinan borang kajian SEIA tersebut. Jeffrey sempat minta salinan photocopy untuk borang2 tersebut, salah satunya seperti di bawah.

Jeffrey amat kesal dengan perbuatan pensyarah UiTM tersebut yang sepatutnya menjalankan kajian dengan adil dan professional. Beliau berharap peguam2 dan NGO2 yang arif dapat membantu penduduk kampung supaya mereka tidak tertipu dan terpedaya oleh pihak-pihak yang tidak bertanggungjawab.

Baleh People say they are not consulted over Baleh Dam

The Sarawak Energy Bhd claimed days ago that they would start to build Baleh Dam instead of Baram Dam since the SEIA survey was completed. However, interview by RadioFreeSarawak with Baleh villagers shown that no discussion nor consultation with affected villagers has been carried out by dam developer and state government. In fact, the people are against the proposed dam.
